According to a report in The Sun Arsenal are about to announce that Kieran Tierney will be available to face Manchester City tomorrow.

Reporter Derek McGregor has a track record of being ahead of the pack for developments relating to Tierney.

Arsenal were shocked when Tierney was put into self-isolation after being identified as a close contact of Stuart Armstrong alongside Ryan Christie. Both players denied breaking protocols.

The Sun reports:

ARSENAL are poised to confirm they’ve successfully negotiated for Kieran Tierney to cut short his 14-day isolation period and be available for tomorrow’s game against Man City at the Etihad.

And that will immediately spark a demand from Celtic for answers and a similar result for Ryan Christie ahead of the first Old Firm derby of the season. SunSport revealed today the Hoops were ready to fight for their player.

Celtic have been lower profile with their concern over the Christie ban but were reported to be contesting the decision by The Sun and the Daily Record in today’s editions.

The situation will require very careful negotiations with the Scottish Government insisting that footballers who are close contacts are treated the same way as others with a 14 day period of self isolation.

Football has been given special privileges to resume but that could be under threat if Celtic don’t stick with the agreed protocols.
