Jonny Hayes is an injury doubt for Sunday’s reunion with Celtic.

The 33-year-old last just over half an hour of last night’s win over Hamilton Accies before being replaced with a groin complaint.

Hayes spent three seasons as an important part of the Celtic squad, starting two cup final Hampden wins in 2019 but was released at the end of last season when his contract expired.

Throughout the summer transfer window Celtic were light on options down the left flank with Diego Laxalt brought in on loan from AC Milan on the final day of the window.

Aberdeen moved into third place last night with a 4-2 win over Hamilton but afterwards manager Derek McInnes told the Daily Record:

We lost a couple of poor goals and that took the shine off a bit and a couple of injuries to players. Jonny Hayes will get a scan tomorrow. He is feeling his groin and he did the right thing in coming off.

Ash Taylor and Ross McCrorie had a couple of knocks as well and Edmondson rolled his ankle but Jonny is the most at risk but we will see where he is tomorrow.

Since moving to Pittodrie Hayes has made 13 appearances as the Dons pick up after a flat start to the season when the Irishman was one of eight players guilty of breaking social distancing protocols.
