Kenny Dalglish has urged the Celtic support to recall past glories with the spotlight on Neil Lennon.

There seems little sign of any concern within the club but social media has been unforgiving over the last 10 days.

Results have been disappointing but of more concern has been the largely flat and predictable performances, repeated errors and apparent lack of spirit both on the pitch and the dug-out.

Lennon 2020 seems almost unrecognisable to the 2011 version where he turned around a 15 point deficit in November to go top of the table going into 2012 to kick off the current run of success.

The old Lennon would have been less forgiving of recent performances but as he told The Sun, Dalglish believes that the current Celtic boss can turn things around:

Fortunately for everybody I don’t see Celtic being overactive in trying to get rid of anybody. They should remember what Lenny did a few years ago and remember what he did since he’s come back.

Going into New Year they were trailing Rangers a bit and they sped past them and ran away with the league. Lenny is the Celtic manager and deservedly so and I don’t think the Celtic people will be looking in any other direction in any way, shape or form.

Like everything else, the bad news always gets well publicised rather than the good news, doesn’t it? He’s been unlucky, he hasn’t had players available recently but he has a few players coming back for Sunday.

The Lille game is important but for me the game on Sunday is the most important one but I’m sure if he doesn’t get a result against Lille the criticism will be there again.

Sunday’s game is a re-match with Aberdeen with Celtic looking to retain the Scottish Cup to complete a fourth Treble.
