The complex jigsaw of Mike Ashley’s Ibrox deal is starting to emerge with a claim that Castore are going to take over the contract to produce next season’s Newcastle United kit.

Despite their natural desire to deny, even the most Gullible should be able to join the dots that saw a mystery investor take control of Castore Sport, a rushed deal with the Tribute Act and Newcastle switching to the firm operating out of a couple of warehouse units in Liverpool.

The Ibrox support were fed all the soundbites in May when they became the first football club to sign up with premium brand Castore after Marketing Guru James Bisgrove got a train to Manchester to meet up with Tom and Phil Beahon.

With the usual recipe of spin the Gullible were soon splashing out £60 a pop for high end football tops manufactured across Turkey and India. Reality didn’t live up to expectations with social media flooded with poor quality tops falling apart after one wash and emerging with the lettering detached or washed out.

Last month there was a very dubious report that Castore were about to win the contract to become AS Roma’s kit partner, back in the real world The Sun reports:

RANGERS kit manufacturers Castore have agreed a deal to supply kits to Newcastle United, according to reports. The sportswear firm have supplied the kits for the Ibrox side this season after replacing Hummel in the summer.

Ashley still has an on-going dispute with the Ibrox club after Sports Direct weren’t offered matching rights to the Hummel deal that came into play in 2018. The Danish firm cut short their three year contract after a trail of disputes.

There has been no quality issues with the current Ibrox kit on sale at Sports Direct stores, the only UK retailer stocking the kit.
