Vasilis Barkas is back in the Celtic squad to face Lille tomorrow night presenting Neil Lennon with a dilemma after the £4m summer signing missed the 3-3 weekend draw at Aberdeen.

Barkas came in for some criticism for his performances in the Glasgow derby and against AC Milan but Celtic aren’t known for paying hefty fees for substitutes.

Barkas appeared to suffer a knee injury when he collided with Shane Duffy at AC Milan’s third goal but a shoulder injury shouldn’t be as serious, being part of the travelling party suggests that he could play although Conor Hazard is also in the squad alongside Scott Bain.

Bain played in the opening SPFL match of the season at home to Hamilton but Barkas took over for the visit to Kilmarnock the following week and retained his place till the weekend draw at Aberdeen.

With the defence changing in terms of personnel and formation almost on a game to game basis it hasn’t been easy for Barkas to settle with comparisons being made to Fraser Forster.

Odsonne Edouard and Nir Bitton are with the squad in France but unlikely to be considered for a starting place.
