Greg Taylor had his online critics back-tracking and deleting after Celtic’s 1-0 win away to Sarajevo.
A week ago in Riga the former Kilmarnock defender was having almost every aspect of his performance hammered with few dissenting voices.
Suggesting that playing left back is very different to left wing-back cut no ice as some claimed that he could neither attack or defend in Celtic’s 3-5-2 system. The real issue was that he isn’t Kieran Tierney while there is barely a wing-back in the UK that can match up favourably against Jeremie Frimpong.
A year ago Taylor arrived just as Boli Bolingoli found some form with Jonny Hayes as a very dependable deputy.
The Killie defender was cup-tied from the League Cup but towards the turn of the year and after the winter break opportunities started to crop up.
It’s almost certain that Celtic will sign a left sided player before midnight on Monday but whoever arrives will have to bide their time trying to oust Taylor from the slot he is looking increasingly comfortable in.
Feel sorry for Greg Taylor. People comparing him to Frimpong but in all honesty Jeremy is a freak. He’s going to end up at Barca!!! Not a fair comparison! Guy is playing out of his skin!

Broony and Greg Taylor have been subject to criticism recently and tonight they both put on a terrific shift. Taylor is a hard working player and our captain is far from done! ?

Greg Taylor is not as bad as people make out. Decent defender, provides some assists. Can defend, unfortunately a Celtic fullback has to have an attacking edge as they get alot of the ball due to teams sitting in.

Greg Taylor’s been our most consistent performer this season. Doesn’t deserve the flak he’s been getting! ?

It’s time all of the critics got off Greg Taylor’s case, whether they think he’s “Celtic class” or not. He’s a young guy who’s got big boots to fill, and he’s doing it alone thanks to that clown Bolingoli.
If they keep it up they’ll eventually wreck the guy’s confidence…— Ian Macfarlane (@imac465) October 1, 2020
all the Greg Taylor bashing needs to stop, I myself have been critical about the constant passing back but he is a solid Left Back that gives 100% every game, Tierney he is not but then not many in the whole world of football are.
