With two days trading left before the extended transfer window closes time is running out on Celtic’s hopes of signing a left sided player as back-up and competition to Greg Taylor.
On August 10 news of Boli Bolingoli’s trip to Malaga emerged resulting in the postponement of two matches leaving Neil Lennon with virtually no alternatives on the left hand side of the park.
Albian Ajeti’s arrival allowed the team to evolve into a 3-5-2 formation but with James Forrest and Jeremie Frimpong available on the right-hand side of the park Taylor has been forced into taking on a new role to give the team balance. Fortunately, the former Kilmarnock man has avoided injury, so far.
Various reports have emerged of Celtic’s transfer data-base listing options in every position but for more than a month Lennon has been talking about the one position he wants filled.
Unfortunately over the last few days the options seem to be reducing. Ryan Sessegnon has joined Hoffenheim on loan, Alfie Doughty played for Charlton yesterday against Sunderland with Watford reported to be keen on Barry Douglas.
No Barry Douglas again today. Leif Davis on the bench ahead of him. @TheAthleticUK understands that Watford are interested in signing him. @AdamLeventhal #lufc

#Celtic leaving it late yet again as left wing back options narrow.
Missed out on Spurs Ryan Sessegnon. He’s off to Hoffenheim on a season’s loan, while Watford have stepped up a move for Leeds’ Barry Douglas, who is also on Celtic’s radar along with Charlton’s Alfie Doughty. https://t.co/9apiu5K2eF— Brian McNally (@McNallyMirror) October 4, 2020
Within a week of losing to Ferencvaros David Turnbull and Shane Duffy were signed but since then there has been no new arrivals. Both moves had been speculated on for some days before completion.
The odds of a player leaving appears to be reducing but with two days left it seems that Celtic are no closer to signing a left sided player as the moment they found out about Bolingoli’s secret visit to Spain.
