Karamoko Dembele was missing from the Celtic Colt’s side that took on Partick Thistle at Firhill today in a Glasgow Cup tie.
The 17-year-old has been the subject of a lot of online speculation recently with his path to the top looking to be on hold.
With his contract expiring in June it looks likely that he will move on from Celtic for a nominal compensation fee based on the time he has spent within the club Academy.
Neil Lennon gave the young winger his top team debut in the final SPFL match of the 2018/19 season with his 45 minute appearance against Hearts earning him a place on the bench for the Treble Treble Scottish Cup Final a week later.
Other than a brief role as a substitute in the opening SPFL match of the season against Hamilton there has been no playing time for Dembele although he has been involved in the Europa League squads.
The teenager could be in the squad to face Sparta Prague on Thursday but with Stephen Welsh playing against Partick Thistle it seems odd that the young winger is missing out on getting proper game time. Karamoko played in the final of the 2018 and 2019 Glasgow Cup.
