A large number of Celtic fans have switched their anger from the dug-out to the boardroom with Peter Lawwell the main target.
Neil Lennon looks a lame duck after tonight’s 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague which extended a depressing run to two wins in nine matches with 21 goals lost.
At Wednesday’s media conference Lennon highlighted how ‘Peter has been very supportive’ but it will take an exceptional effort from the CEO to defend his manager from the flack from the latest disaster in a nine match run that has produced two wins at the cost of 21 goals.
Lawwell’s is without doubt in it with Lennon. In May 2019 he announced a permanent appointment following the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts without having considered any other applicants.
While last season went well after a Champions League exit to Cluj this season has bombed since going out of the Champions League a round earlier to Ferencvaros.
Lawwell has maintained a low profile this season but after tonight’s defeat there is no hiding place for the CEO of 17 years standing.
