Brian Rice is facing calls to be sacked following Hamilton’s 2-1 defeat at Stranraer in the Betfred Cup.
On Sunday Rice had to explain away an 8-0 defeat at Ibrox that had the homeside billed as world beaters. Tonight, Accies hit rock bottom with defeat to a team that is seventh in League Two with their only win of the season coming on Saturday at home to Cowdenbeath.
Thomas Orr opened the scoring in the 34th minute, Hakeem Oddofin equalised in the 71st minute but Daryl Duffy scored the winner in the 81st minute. Former Celts Connor McManus and Grant Gallagher were in the Stranraer side.
After years as an assistant manager and first team coach Rice left St Mirren to take charge of Hamilton in January 2019 where he helped save them from the drop.
Prior to Lockdown a surprise 1-0 win at Ibrox and the same scoreline at home to Kilmarnock- their first wins of 2020 saved them from the drop as Hearts squealed their way into the Championship.
Rice’s honesty has made him a favourite with the media but with one win from 12 SPFL matches and defeats from Annan and Stranraer in the Betfred Cup the former Hibs and Nottingham Forest midfielder might struggle to survive the winter break. On Saturday Accies are at home to Albion Rovers in the Betfred Cup.

Embarrassment. Once Rice and Beuzelin are gone can we have a new board as well? Can’t wait to hear how this one is the fan’s fault. The club is being run into the ground and it is totally depressing to see.

There are no words to describe how bad this is @acciesfc .
Get the man out , hes not good enough and this cant be doing his health and career any good whatsoever

Absolutely disgraceful…every one of those “players” & “management” should be ashamed to call themselves professionals…a total embarrassment to the fans/club & town…PLEASE leave immediately…??

Who are we expecting to beat in the league when we can’t beat teams in the bottom tier?
The sad part is I don’t think there is a fan on here tonight that is surprised by this result. That’s how bad we are.
Rice needed to go after Annan. His position is totally untenable now— Stephen D (@Accies_stephen) November 11, 2020
Shameful. Rice doesn’t know how to turn things around. He admitted the other day he didn’t know why things were going wrong. Please sack him now before it’s too late.

That was an embarrassment – out played by a League 2 team

There can be NO EXCUSES. Worst performance I have ever seen. Clear out of coaching staff required. Players just cannot be this consistently bad. Disorganised and leaderless. Don’t mind getting beaten if playing well but we consistently play poorly. ?

Again, that’s plenty from BR.
He no longer can organise and motivate to beat a League 2 side, well 2 of them, actually.
