Tony Hamilton quickly deleted a sarcastic tweet about Celtic fans protesting outside the stadium following the 2-0 Betfred Cup defeat from Ross County.
The Chief Executive of the Celtic Foundation responded to a tweet from Chris McLaughlin of BBC Scotland to news that police had been called to deal with the fans unhappy at the result and running of the club.
With emotions running high it wasn’t really the time for a club employee to be making glib, dismissive comments about the emotions of supporters.
A group of angry Celtic fans now outside Celtic Park. Some chanting for Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell to go. Police arriving in numbers.

The Celtic Foundation is about the only good thing about the club currently which is why this has annoyed me so much – I’m absolutely willing to admit that I might have misjudged it entirely. https://t.co/yxhZ8rvWTm

His work for the foundation can’t be denied. But as a representative of the club, for him to be making jokes about this carry on is inexcusable.

Hamilton used to have a key role in Celtic’s in-house media operations before switching his expertise to head up the club’s charitable work.

Worldwide fund-raising initiatives have been launched with Hamilton working with fans in North America to set up an annual dinner which was attended by Rod Stewart and Neil Lennon in October 2019.
