Hatem Abd Elhamed should be on his way back to Glasgow today after being red carded in Israel’s 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic.

The defender stuck out his hand to divert a through ball with 10 minutes left to play and was instantly dismissed.

With a question mark over the availability of Kris Ajer for Saturday’s match away to Hibs the early return of Elhamed is a rare piece of good fortune for Celtic in a season of complete disruption caused by International football.

International football hasn’t been favourable to Elhamed this season, after the home match against the Czech’s last month he tested positive and was forced into Quarantine.

Israel needed to win last night’s match to keep their Nations League hopes alive going into the final match, at home to Scotland on Wednesday.

Scotland go to Israel a point clear but need to match or better the result of the Czech Republic who finish their campaign at home to Slovakia.

Winning the group will bring promotion to the Elite A Grouping which includes France, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Germany and the prospect of a Play Off route to the World Cup Finals in Qatar.
