Chris Sutton showed his favourite colours as he highlighted #FootballShirtFriday for the Bobby Moore Fund.

The one-time England striker played for Norwich, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea and Aston Villa but five years at Celtic left a greater impression than any other period in his career.

Signed for a club record £6m in July 2000 Sutton formed a devastating partnership with Henrik Larsson as Martin O’Neill took Celtic to a whole new level culminating in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final appearance. Along the way Sutton helped see off the challenges of Liverpool, Blackburn, Celta Vigo and Stuttgart.

Over the last couple of weeks Sutton has stepped up his campaigning for greater research into the growing list of former players suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s which includes his father, Mike.

The recent death of Nobby Stiles followed by news of Bobby Charlton’s illness has highlighted the issue but the football authorities have been reluctant to show support or commit to research.
