Celtic are reported to have had a $3m bid for Mark McKenzie turned down by Philadelphia Union.

The defender has been reported as a Celtic transfer target a number of times through the summer transfer window which stretched on until October 5.

At the start of September Shane Duffy was signed on loan from Brighton to bolster the hoops defence but as Video Celts reported yesterday the Irishman looks like returning to Brighton in January.

McKenzie has made a big impact in the Philadelphia defence but a move to Europe would probably require some settling in time which isn’t something that Celtic have this season.

According to the MSG website Dyer:

Joined MSG Networks in 2015 and currently serves as the “Red Bulls Insider” during select telecasts, and is also a feature contributor and podcast host on MSGNetworks.com.

A former college soccer player at Montclair State University, Dyer began covering MLS and the national team in 2006 for ESPN.com. He has worked as an NFL columnist and soccer reporter for Metro New York newspaper, and has also been featured in the New York Times, USA TODAY, and SportsIllustrated.com.

With little sign of Kris Ajer signing a contract extension beyond June 2022 there is likely to be big changes in the Celtic defence next season.

Celtic have never played an American in the modern era but the January 2019 signings of Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez confirms that scouts are active in that market.
