The Daily Record has opted to report on the virus issue involving Borna Barisic.

Yesterday at half-time during Croatia’s 3-3 draw away to Turkey it was discovered that Domagoj Vida had tested positive, was withdrawn and immediately put into self-isolation in Istanbul.

Barisic has been training with Vida as part of the Croatian squad and spent yesterday on the bench before flying on to Stockholm today for the weekend match against Sweden.

The Record reports:

Barisic did not make it off the bench in the friendly but Rangers will be fearful of a similar outbreak to the one that hit Celtic hard over the last international break. Vida has been isolated from the rest of the squad ahead of their match with Sweden.

A statement from the Croatian FA said: “The medical service of the Croatian national team received initial information at the end of the break between the two halves that there was one potentially positive result. This is a common test procedure, and a ‘suspicious’ finding is retested to confirm the result.

Remarkably the club from Ibrox haven’t returned a single positive test despite having good-time guys Jordan Jones and George Edmoundson inside their bubble.

In June Steven Gerrard gave Michael Beale a lift to training against the rules of the Scottish Government, the following month a friendly against Dundee United at Murray Park went ahead despite none of the Ibrox stars having returned a negative test within the timeline. Two assistant referees were refused access to Murray Park because they hadn’t been tested but the match went ahead refereed by Craig Napier.
