Dermot Gallagher has slammed the decision of Andrew Dallas not to send off Devante Cole during the Sky Sports match against Celtic.

Early in the second half of the match, with his side trailing 2-0 the Motherwell striker planted his studs onto the thigh of his opponents as Frimpong looked to advance into the Motherwell half.

Dallas had a perfect view of the incident; he had a fourth official and assistant referee nearby but for reasons known only to himself decided that a yellow card was sufficient punishment with Cole allowed to continue.

Every Monday former FIFA referee Gallagher reviews the main incidents from the weekend, picking up on his comments the Glasgow Times reports:

I think both players are extremely lucky. I think Cole is lucky he didn’t get a red card because the point of contact is really, really bad.

And I think Frimpong is lucky he didn’t suffer a serious injury. If his leg is planted, that’s a very dangerous tackle. I just think the referee has read it wrong.

After receiving treatment Frimpong carried on for 15 minutes before being replaced by Hatem Abd Elhamed.

Neil Lennon will wait for the results of scans on Frimpong, asked about the incident the Celtic boss admitted that he fears his player has suffered ligament damage.
