The madness of international friendly matches, some might use far stronger terms, has been highlighted with Norway’s friendly against Israel tonight called off.

With Kris Ajer, Moi Elyounoussi, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed due to be involved the situation will be of particular concern to Celtic.

Translate: Today’s international match at Ullevaal between Norway and Israel is cancelled, according to new assessments from the Norwegian Directorate of Health.

During the November Internationals both of Celtic’s Israeli internationals returned positive tests which was hardly surprising with players flying in on scheduled flights from across Europe.

Israel played in three different countries last month with Bitton and Elhamed missing the final fixture as they went into self-isolation with both players suffering symptoms.

Norway now face trips to Romania and Turkey while Israel host the Czech Republic and Scotland over the next week.

Four Celtic players are in the Scotland squad due to play in Serbia, Slovakia and Israel before next Saturday’s match away to Hibs.
