Kris Ajer could be involved for Norway despite a reoccurrence of his groin injury during Celtic’s 4-1 win over Motherwell.

The defender first suffered the injury away to Lille which forced him to miss the matches against Aberdeen and Lille.

At Fir Park on Sunday he was back in Neil Lennon’s starting XI but appeared to suffer another groin knock in the closing stages with Shane Duffy sent on in his place.

Ajer has joined up with Norway’s international squad for the matches against Romania (Sunday) and Austria (Wednesday).

Asked about the availability of the Celtic defender, Norway boss Lars Lagerback told VG:

We do not know for sure. We have only had oral contact so far. We do not know how serious it is. He is not completely negative himself, but could not play a game today at least.

Neil Lennon will be waiting anxiously for Ajer to return and be available to face Hibs at Easter Road on November 21. Central defence has been beset by problems this season but if fit and available it seems certain that Ajer will be an automatic pick whether Celtic go with a back three or a back four.
