Overnight Leigh Griffiths has deleted his Twitter account.
After Scotland’s penalty kick win over Serbia his @leighgriff09 account was tagged by Celtic and his partner Caitlyn Melville.
Griffiths is well used to horrendous abuse on Social Media aimed at him and his children but it seems that it went into overboard following last night’s internationals.
With Northern Ireland being knocked out in extra-time by Slovakia a tearful picture of Kyle Lafferty circulated Social Media and was liked by Griffiths. Last week the former Ibrox striker suffered a family bereavement.
It doesn’t take much to kick things off on Twitter with the Griffiths Twitter account disappearing while the level of abuse and threats aimed at the Celtic striker scales new heights.
So your saying this is acceptable? Someone’s who’s sister sadly passed away a couple off days ago before the match and he give his all to try and help the team and at the end off the match his emotions got the better off him. So unprofessional off him no matter which side your on pic.twitter.com/Vq3ZY0Fs1X
