Kris Ajer and Moi Elyounoussi are in the Norway squad scheduled to fly to Romania today while home based players are excluded to prevent the spread of the virus.

On Wednesday a friendly match against Israel was called off over health fears with the decision for tomorrow’s Europa League match against Romania highlighting the issues around effectively meaningless international matches.

Restrictions brought in by the Norwegian Government means that five home based players would have to Quarantine after the double-header against Romania and Austria but there are no restrictions with sending foreign based players to complete the fixtures.

Covering the statement from the Norwegian Football Association VG reports:

This is a demanding situation with many dilemmas. We do not want to challenge the exception we have received for entry quarantine. We therefore intend to leave players who play in Norwegian clubs left in the infection quarantine in Norway. We do this to prevent the spread of infection in Norwegian society. As we assess the situation, Norwegian players who live abroad can travel out of the country because they will not return to Norway, says football president Terje Svendsen in the press release.

Ajer is an injury concern for the match against Romania but with a travelling squad of 17 outfield players the Celtic defender could be pushed into action.

Last month after the international break Neil Lennon was unable to select Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed.
