Ryan Christie lit up a dismal afternoon at Hampden with a glorious strike as good as any that the Scottish Cup has ever witnessed.

The midfielder drifted in off the right wing, noted the positioning of Joe Lewis then curled a brilliant left foot shot around the keeper into the net from 25 yards.

Any other year it would have had 30,000 fans out of their seats at Hampden but with the match played Behind Closed Doors it was only the screams and cheers of his team-mates and management team to recognise the strike.

Celtic were sublime during the first half- hitting the same heights that they discovered in Lyon in midweek with Aberdeen chasing shadows.

Five minutes later Moi Elyounoussi doubled Celtic’s advantage but it was all about a brilliant cross from Tom Rogic that took Lewis out the game with the on loan Southampton winger showing the determination lacking in Andy Considine to find the net.

Celtic should have added to their tally before the break but went in just two goals in front.

After the break Celtic eased right off but the Dons were barely able to carve out a proper chance as the hoops booked a place in the final against Hearts on December 20.
