Phil MacGiollabhain has named two of what he believes are the three candidates under consideration to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic manager.
After a run of two wins from eight matches has left Celtic trailing domestically by 11 points and close to the exit door in the Europa League there is intense speculation that Lennon’s days are numbered.
Since Saturday’s 2-2 draw away to Hibs there has barely been any comment from Celtic with no stories added to the club website on Monday by 4.45 with the last tweet coming on Sunday morning to wish Scott Bain a happy birthday.
Fans have speculated and guessed over what might be going on inside the club, this afternoon under the headline ‘Time up for a great Celt’ Phil writes:
The week after the derby defeat on October 17th, a very well-placed source told me that a senior functionary within the Dermot Desmond empire had reached out.
However, my guy said that I had to keep it to myself at the time, and I abided by that. Today he permitted me to publish what he told me weeks ago.
After the derby match Neil Lennon was told that he was on a yellow card. Talks were held with these two Irishmen (Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane pictured).
I understand that representative of Eddie Howe were also contacted about taking the Celtic job. There was also a third potential replacement approached. However, I do not know the identity of that individual.
Lennon is scheduled to host a media conference by Zoom on Wednesday ahead of the Europa League tie away to Sparta Prague.
Celtic’s next SPFL match is at home to St Johnstone on December 6 with the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts falling two weeks later.
