Celtic have picked up a €7,000 fine from UEFA for getting five players booked away to Lille.

After every round of matches UEFA go through every protocol with clubs getting fined for a late kick off, issues with stewards and other trivialities to keep everyone in line.

There was nothing particularly physical in the match against Lille but referee Aleksandar Stavrev from Macedonia handed out five bookings to the visitors.

Scott Bain, Olivier Ntcham, Moi Elyounoussi, Diego Laxalt and Albian Ajeti were the men cautioned by Stavrev who escapes unpunished for awarding Lille a penalty for a trip by Shane Duffy outside the penalty box. Had a free-kick been awarded Duffy would have been yellow carded.

UEFA announced:

Celtic FC Charges: • Improper conduct of the team, Art. 15(4) DR Decision: The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided: • To fine Celtic FC €7,000 for the improper conduct of the team. • The above fine must be paid within 90 days of communication of this decision

A week later at home to Sparta Prague Ryan Christie was the only Celtic player booked in Celtic’s 4-1 defeat. Celtic are back in UEFA action on November 26 when they travel to Prague to take on Sparta.
