Three time EPL failure is second favourite to replace Neil Lennon at Celtic

According to a report in The Sun, Marco Silva is second favourite, after Eddie Howe, to take over from Neil Lennon as Celtic manager.

The Irishman is still of course in charge but while a number of sources close to the club insist that all is well most fans online would beg to differ.

Whatever set of stats you wish to look at it doesn’t look bright for Lennon who is in his second stint at Celtic, taking over from Brendan Rodgers on a caretaker basis in February 2019 before getting the job on a permanent basis three months later.

Silva has been out of football for almost a year after being sacked by Everton, according to Soccerbase his record in terms of games, wins, draws and defeats is as follows:

Everton 60: 24, 12, 24

Watford 26: 8, 5, 13

Hull City 22: 8, 3, 11

According to The Sun:

EDDIE HOWE is the bookmakers’ odds-on favourite to be appointed the next manager of Celtic.

Betfair have installed the former Cherries boss at 5/6 to replace Neil Lennon, who is under severe pressure at Parkhead after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Howe, 42, is closely followed by 3/1 Marco Silva, who has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in December 2019.

Silva’s time in the EPL spanned from January 2017 when he failed to save Hull City from relegation through to December 2019 at Everton who brought in Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement.

After intensive speculation about his future Lennon is expected to go before the media tomorrow to preview the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague but his own future looks likely to be the main issue.
