Diego Laxalt’s agent has revealed that the Uruguayan is hoping to play in English football next season.

Celtic signed the 27-year-old on loan from AC Milan at the end of the summer transfer market with Laxalt allowed to play in the Europa League matches against his parent club.

There were some suggestions that Celtic were looking to make the move a permanent deal but matching the salary that he gets in Serie A would be quite a stretch for Celtic’s wage structure.

Laxalt is under contract with AC Milan until June 2022 but it seems like his future lies away from the San Siro with his agent, Ariel Krasouski, telling The Sun:

Diego is playing a lot of games for Celtic and he is very happy there. They treat him very well in Glasgow. In the summer he will return to Milan after his loan contract at Celtic ends.

I think Milan will try and sell him at that point before his contract expires in a year’s time. Diego’s wish is to play next season in England. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Laxalt went straight into the Celtic side as soon as he joined but was on the bench against Kilmarnock and Hearts with Greg Taylor.

With Boli Bolingoli due to return from his loan spell in Turkey at the end of this season there is likely to be transfer activity in that area of the park.
