For the second time in less than a week Sky Sports have turned to Paul John Dykes to articulate the views of Celtic fans critical of the state the club is in.

The host of the daily A Celtic State of Mind podcast has provided a valuable outlet for fans to discuss the issues and problems at the club which is far from the ‘baying mob’ caricature that the club would like to put out when sources talk to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record.

Tellingly the Daily Record will be in on today’s media conference while fan-media will be excluded.

Last night’s statement saying nothing of any substance from Peter Lawwell simply underlined how out of touch the executive of the club is with the concerns of the support, the 50,000 fans that bought Season Tickets who’ve heard little from the club as they sit at home watching the season disintegrate on a stream. Celtic have lost their four games in a row for the first time since the fifties.

The current situation does have parallels with the early nineties when the Celts for Change movement emerged with Matt McGlone as their spokesman and media contact.

Almost 30 years later there are plenty of alternative media platforms but when Sky Sports provide a platform for dissenting voices the alarm bells really should be ringing inside Celtic Park.

The Kelly’s and White’s dismissed the malcontents of the early 90s, the internet bampots of the 2020s are calling the current custodians to account in a very effective way.
