The paper value of Odsonne Edouard may have dropped by £10m over the last 12 months.

Although the claim is made by the Daily Record based on a report from Italian publisher Tuttosport there will be substance to the value.

A year ago Edouard had led the line for a team that had topped their Europa League group highlighted by wins home and away against Lazio.

As 2020 comes to an end a global pandemic has sent a shudder through the game with the young Celtic physically a victim with the fortunes of his club on a downward spiral.

Discussing the prospect of interest from Juventus, the Daily Record reports:

Boss Andrea Pirlo is keen to recruit an alternative to Alvaro Morata and a host of players have been tipped as fitting the bill. Memphis Depay, Olivier Giroud or even a return to the club for Fernando Llorente, it seems clear Pirlo is keen on another frontman.

According to tuttosport, Edouard is a serious option for Juventus but price could prove a stumbling block. When interest from Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers emerged in 2019, Celtic were quick to value the 22-year-old at up to £30million.

Italian media reckon that price is closer to £20m in the current market but also report these are the type of figures Juve “want to avoid”.

Edouard has 18 months left on his Celtic contract but is unlikely to be pushing for a January exit. Transferring clubs in mid-season is a far riskier move than switching in the summer, allowing more time to bed in and take part in pre-season training and matches.
