Celtic are reported to be in contract talks to get Conor Hazard onto a new contract.

The keeper was thrown in at the deep end against Lille last week but after two top team appearances he now seems to be the man in possession for Sunday’s Scottish Cup Final against Hearts.

Hazard has had short loan spells at Partick Thistle, Falkirk and Dundee before making his Celtic debut at the age of 22.

Discussing his situation, The Sun reports:

CELTIC are closing in on a bumper contract extension for shock new No1 Conor Hazard. SunSport understands talks have been on-going since the summer with the 22-year-old. And now after his stunning breakthrough Hoops boss Neil Lennon is keen to get Hazard’s immediate future tied up with his present deal expiring next summer.

According to the normally reliable Transfermarkt Hazard is under contract until June 2023 having signed a five year contract in September 2017. Bain is under contract until 2023 with Barkas secured until 2024.

Celtic signed the then teenager from Cliftonville in 2014 but when Craig Gordon and Fraser Forster left in the summer he wasn’t considered anything more than third choice.

Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain rotated the gloves as Celtic toiled for form but after being involved in successive victories it looks like Hazard is summer, currently the first-choice keeper.
