Celtic Trust arrange pre-match Sunday fan protest

The Celtic Trust has arranged a fan demonstration before Sunday’s home match against Kilmarnock.

With the traditional Supporter groups appearing to take a Vow of Silence the Trust has emerged as a voice of the fans as the club builds barricades to keep supporters at a distance.

Celtic’s last two home matches have resulted in post-match demonstrations which has resulted in Police action with the Trust keen to keep everything regulated to prevent their message from being distracted.

One action, banner, chant or slogan could easily be highlighted to take attention away from the protests being arranged by The Trust which has experienced a surge in membership allowing them to increase their stake in the club.

Perhaps there will be those who think we should keep quiet and say nothing given the sensitivities around the footballing issues and the health issues, however, we take the view that fan organisations should show leadership in situations like this and that is what we propose to do.

We should make absolutely clear that the Celtic Trust has never, and never will, condone violence or the abuse of employees of the Club.  A robust expression of views is, however, a part of football and cannot/should not be suppressed.

Only fans from within Glasgow have been asked to attend to ensure that the demonstration meets with Tier 3 regulations which come into force on Friday. On Monday Celtic will stage a virtual AGM with selected questions answered by the club.
