With supporters locked out of grounds and doing all that they can financially to keep clubs afloat someone at Queen of the South decided that it would be a good idea to attract a celebrity fan to Palmerston.
There are few greater opportunists in life than George Galloway. The one time Dundee United and Celtic fan has only ever been a supporter of himself, moving through Political Parties and attaching himself to whatever cause is most likely to provide him with his next cheque.
For reasons that can only be associated with his surname he has relocated in the south west of Scotland with Queen of the South the latest object for his affection.
Inviting the formerly gorgeous politician along to watch yesterday’s match against Dundee must be one of the biggest own goals in recent times from a Scottish club.
Ever the opportunist Galloway couldn’t keep quiet about watching a Championship match yesterday- choosing to tweet from the ground as his new team lost with the usual band of 1,200 fans unable to use their influence to gain entry to a club that they have helped sustain for decades.
After levelling up on Twitter the feedback wasn’t encouraging for the club now sitting at the bottom of The Championship- as well as the dog house with their lifeblood fans.
We would like to apologise to our supporters who have been upset by the attendance of George Galloway at our game v Dundee. > https://t.co/UBTyeyZYbx pic.twitter.com/KbZlxpwyxv

what a honkin statement to put out! Qos fans punting there hard earned cash in to the club can’t get near a live game but some half wit wi a shite hat that pretends to be a cat gets an invite wi his family…and you tweet to say he was socially distancing are you shitting me??!!

You’ve invited him… with his family… During a tier 4 lockdown… When your loyal, paying fans are NOT ALLOWED to attend due to restrictions… Restrictions that apply to EVERYONE!
I hope you get hammered by the SFA and the police!

So you’ve broken Covid rules as set out by the government and SFA, and all you can say is sorry you got upset? So you’ll be happy to take the oncoming sanctions then? Or is the this person and his family now all on the committee?

Let’s hope the @ScottishFA sanction you for this. No other club is allowed supporters in the stadium.

This just sounds like you’re sorry that they’re upset. What you *should* be apologising for is letting him in at all. We all want to see our teams play, we all miss the games, but we all don’t get to just turn up and expect to be let in.

Unbelievable and here we are all following tiar 4 & @georgegalloway is sitting at a football game and here we have Nicola getting picked on for forgetting to place her mask back on. @policescotland should be knocking on your doors ?

‘All Covid protocols were followed’
Except for the part where, you know, there’s to be no fans in the ground.
