In a clear wolf whistle to the Gullible, among shareholders and the media, Stewart Robertson decided to bring up the early conclusion to the 2019/20 season. That will be the conclusion that the Ibrox chief voted in favour of. At the time Robbo was on the Board of the SPFL.

With Celtic leading by 13 points with just eight points left to play the SPFL suspended football on March 13 with the clubs eventually voting to end the season based on average points per game.

After leaking their fake anger and dismay to the usual sources about the initial vote which decided the lower divisions Robbo played to the gallery with a number of statements, one of them calling for the suspensions of Neil Doncaster and Murdoch MacLennan.

With a final prize money pay out of around £1m at stake Robertson voted to conclude the season having failed in an earlier bid to get the SPFL to issue security-free loans to member clubs.

The criticism of the vote that he approved helped deflect away from a £15.9m loss for the Ibrox club in the year to 30 June 2020 despite an increase in turnover.

Robbo also spoke of expanding stadium capacity, a favourite topic at Ibrox for the last 20 years although he didn’t comment on the Safe Standing section demanded by the Onion Bears after Celtic installed it.
