Brian McNally has hit out at the Celtic hierarchy, accusing them of inertia and incompetence as they did in to defend Neil Lennon. Or the indefensible as McNally puts it.

While the current crop of reporters has to maintain their place in the press box/Zoom call, the retired former Sunday Mirror reporter calls things as he sees it and from the North East of England the picture at Celtic Park is almost tragic.

The failings on the pitch are being match and magnified in the boardroom. The so-called hierarchy has no concept of how to resolve the horrifying results other than blind faith and kicking the can down the road until a review in the new year.

A well run club would have a Chief Executive raising concerns after the Champions League exit from Ferencvaros and ready to move into action after the 4-1 home defeat from Sparta Prague.

Even being generous to Neil Lennon he could have been sacked after losing to Sparta a month ago with no complaints. Defeats from Ferencvaros, AC Milan and Sparta alongside a reverse in the Glasgow derby to create a widening gap at the top of the table can’t be argued with.

Everyone in the game knows that past glories quickly fade, with two statements inside seven days the Celtic board recognise the problems but it looks like a solution is beyond them as fan anger mounts with the gap between the paying fan and the hierarchy growing bigger by the day.
