Oostende have a £1.75m buy-out clause on Jack Hendry.

The defender moved on loan to Belgium in the summer and appears to be enjoying the best form of his career after a miserable two years at Celtic.

In January 2018 a fee reported to be around £1.2m secured his transfer from Dundee to Celtic with most of his early appearances being at right-back after being signed as a centre-half. At no stage has he been a regular for Celtic since his move but it seems that the club is expecting to make a profit on any transfer.

The summer of 2018 was chaotic at Celtic in terms of transfer dealings with Filip Benkovic brought in on loan with Hendry finding himself behind Dedryck Boyata, Jozo Simunovic and Kris Ajer for a place in central defence.

After one substitute appearance in the Betfred Cup last season under Neil Lennon he moved on loan to Melbourne City but an injury in his second appearance alongside Lockdown put paid to his hopes of regular matches.

In a detailed interview with Ben’s Football Blog it is revealed:

Oostende have an option to make the move permanent for £1.75m at the end of the season, and based on Hendry’s form so far, you’d imagine that’s a shoo-in. But the centre-back isn’t closing the door on his parent club.

Hendry is under contract at Celtic until May 2022. This season he has made 10 league appearances for Oostende, two less than he has managed at Celtic.
