Kris Boyd has named just two Celtic players in a ‘combined’ XI made up of players involved in Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.

David Turnbull and Odsonne Edouard get the ‘honour’, effectively transferred into Steven Gerrard’s side who do sit at the top of the table going into Saturday’s match against the team that has won the last 12 domesti trophies.

It will hardly come as news to Celtic fans that the Sky Sports pundit doesn’t rate their players- Boyd started 2020 with a very public and inaccurate attack on Leigh Griffiths with the striker responding when he scored away to Kilmarnock.

During the year Celtic picked up the only trophies available in Scottish football but there is no place in the Boyd XI for serial winners and current internationalists such as Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Kris Ajer.

The thoughts of Boyd and other pundits won’t play any part in Celtic’s build up to Ibrox on Saturday with Neil Lennon looking to build on a run of four consecutive wins in the SPFL without losing a goal.

In The Sun the former Kilmarnock striker named his Glasgow XI as:

BOYD XI: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Barasic; Davis Camara, Turnbull; Roofe, Edouard, Kent

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
