Neil Lennon has claimed that the Celtic players are really happy that their manager has the backing of the club Board of Directors.

Following Sunday’s 1-1 home draw against St Johnstone supporters expressed their anger across Social Media at the direction the club is going.

Some fans have suggested a variety of boycotts to get their message across with their online expressions appearing to strengthen the resolve of the club hierarchy.

Two wins in 12 matches is a grim record that contains four consecutive home defeats broken only by a draw against St Johnstone thanks to a late equaliser from Moi Elyounoussi.

On Tuesday night a statement from the club backed Lennon claiming that he was the man to deliver further success with the Irishman sharing his reaction at today’s media conference.

The Daily Record reports Lennon saying:

I think it sort of settles everyone down. I know it settles the players down for sure. They are really happy about that, thankfully from my point of view. It’s full steam ahead. We just need to try to get some consistency and wins now.

Tomorrow night Celtic complete their Europa League campaign at home to Lille looking for their first win in the competition. Celtic have never completed a UEFA group with just one point. In the 2013/14 and 2017/18 Champions League campaigns they picked up three points.
