Neil Lennon has said that Celtic won’t be encouraging bids for Kris Ajer or Odsonne Edouard when the transfer window opens in three weeks’ time.

With 18 months left on their contracts the clock is ticking down with a departure for a tidy profit likely at some stage, following the Moussa Dembele and Virgil van Dijk template.

Celtic’s income this year will take a big hit without Champions League football or a bigger summer transfer fee which has led many to speculate that January transfer activity will mainly be outgoing.

A year ago Celtic could have been looking at bringing in £50m from the sales of Ajer and Edouard but the effects of Lockdown and with their contracts expiring in May 2022 those sort of fees are highly unlikely.

Asked about cashing in on Ajer or Edouard Lennon said:

No, look – we’re not looking to sell anybody and we’re not encouraging any offers for any of our players. There will be speculation I’m sure. There’ll be interest, but we’ve got a job to do here and the players want to stay and try and fulfil it.

Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham are also out of contract in May 2022 with a major turnover of players likely next summer if nothing happens in January.

Edouard and Ajer arrived at Celtic as teenagers and have been key players in the trophies won over the last three seasons.
