They might be dismissed as reactive and unrepresentative but plenty of Celtic fans have put forward reasoned arguments for the removal of Peter Lawwell.
‘Sack The Board’ is a simple and concise slogan that is hard to argue with but over 17 years the Celtic CEO has built up a lengthy charge sheet that is being refreshed by the present run of disastrous results coupled with his blind faith in Neil Lennon.
Down the years there has been the Steven Fletcher and John McGinn transfer sagas when Lawwell was outflanked by Rod Petrie sitting alongside the appointments of Tony Mowbray and Ronny Deila.
Off the pitch Celtic have been on the wrong end of incredible decisions from the SFA that go way beyond the decisions of Steven McLean and Willie Collum. The 2011 UEFA licence issue has never been dealt with, Aleksandar Tonev was banned on the balance of probability while Ryan Christie was forced to self-isolate after the SFA failed to impose social distancing.
Despite those issues Celtic fans feel that this season’s problems have largely been self-imposed. A manager without his own assistants isn’t really a manager, a 12-month rolling contract is no vote of confidence.
With 17 years of experience to call on Lawwell has seen and survived more than most but the current storm looks like testing his instinct for self-preservation to the absolute max.
If the club think the support would be blinded to a broken dressing room they really don’t have any respect for us unless your handing over ££££££
Lawwell should literally walk ASAP upon his negligence from him telling us he ignored CVs in the drawer when appointing Lenny

Desmond, Lawwell, Lennon- the three massive egos that destroyed the 10. Too pig headed to realise their own failings. Hiding behind fences and Covid. It’s soul destroying being a Celtic fan and having to watch on as this slow motion car crash finally and predictably hits the wall

I have got to be honest with myself DOM but Rodgers last year was poor as well he new at some point he would be going he could not work with Lawwell any longer

Instead of sacking the current coaching regime this morning Peter Lawwell is probably trying to work out how much razor wire is needed to encircle Celtic Park.

That European game should not be looked at in isolation. Its systematic. A repeat from the season before. Potentially UCL £50-£60 million lost to the club. As for who? That’s why Mr Lawwell is paid the proverbial big bucks.

Sad to say we’re nowhere near that level. Think Jack Ross/ Micky Mellon.
Don’t underestimate how completely destructive this season will be for us.
Next 5 years minimum will belong to them.
That’s Lawwell’s legacy.
That and the fences.
Right @CQN @gerrymcculloch1 ?

Hopefully when Lennon gets into Lennoxtown in the morning Peter Lawwell is waiting for him with a golden body warmer to retire him the dafty.

He’s not walking away from his lump sum. Lawwell hardly showing himself to be a competent CEO

Agree again John – Lawwell’s KPI is to maximise the dividend taken annually by DD. Everything else is just window dressing to con supporters. A truly flawed business plan. The ironic thing is he’s not even very good at it. How many £millions has he squandered on buying cheap.
