The full stats about penalty awards in Scottish football this season have been laid out with James Tavernier top of the scoring charts with the season at the half way stage.
The former Wigan utility man has scored six penalties in the SPFL this season but after Hibs had two strong penalty claims turned down at Ibrox on Saturday there has been a shift in focus towards the number of penalties conceded.
Rookie ref David Dickenson awarded St Mirren a penalty in the recent Betfred Cup defeat but incredibly NO PENALTIES have been awarded against Steven Gerrard’s side in 20 SPFL Premiership games.

Teams towards the top of leagues worldwide tend to get most penalties and concede less but in Scotland there is a very notable discrepancy.
The teams in second (Celtic), third (Hibs) and fourth (Aberdeen) place in the table, the biggest challengers to the Ibrox side, are also in those positions in the table of penalties conceded. Ross County, bottom of the Premiership, have conceded more penalties than any other club. Five of Tavernier”s last 10 penalties in the SPFL have been given against Aberdeen.
Alan Muir, as additional assistant to Steven McLean at the 2015 Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle, will referee Wednesday’s return trip to St Mirren with Bobby Madden from the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association in charge of Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.
