One of the few consolations for Celtic fans during the current disastrous run of results is the availability and variety of fan media.

Like minded supporters have graduated from Message Boards through to websites with the last 18 months seeing an explosion in podcasts with a Celtic State of Mind now producing a lunchtime video show where the issues of the day are discussed without fear or favour.

Fans articulate their feelings, share their ideas and theories and can enjoy a form of interaction that has been largely closed off since March of this year. Folk that travelled together on supporters’ buses or who have sat side by side for years haven’t seen each other in nine months.

Fan media has been a lifeline, Social Media can at times be a Zoo but you can choose your websites and podcasts knowing that you’re not being lectured to by someone secretly, or not so secretly delighted to see the state that Celtic are in.

Without doubt Celtic Quick News was one of the trail-blazers, a voice in the wilderness in the early years of the century as they challenged the establishment, quickly establishing a forum and community that most Celtic fans felt happy reading or contributing to.

Over the last year CQN’s complete refusal to take any sort of balanced view of the club has stood out like a sore thumb, absolutely nothing negative is considered as an outrageously upbeat spin is applied to every set-back.

Repeated embarrassments in Europe have been ignored in the same manner that the club’s failure to challenge several incredible decisions by the football authorities has been overlooked.

CQN has evolved from the once-a-day site into a rolling news service for fans but their take on last night’s club statement and the current state of the team has stretched credibility beyond breaking point.

No name is credited with the article which discusses how a side that has lost four and drawn one of their last five matches is poised to go on an incredible winning run to take this season’s title. Mathematically it is possible but something no reasonable Celtic fan would give credibility to as they dread the consequences of last night’s Vote of Confidence with a genuine concern over a cup final appearance against a Championship club.

There is a wide variety of opinion out there among the Celtic support but from over 140 replies on Twitter not many fans were fooled by the optimism conveyed by the team at CQN.
