The Ibrox media machine is running scared of Odsonne Edouard.

The Celtic striker is returning towards some sort of form with three goals in his last four matches although being awarded a penalty at Ibrox on Saturday can be completely discounted.

Yesterday against Dundee United Edouard was involved in a 50-50 challenge in the build up to Celtic’s second goal that has sent paranoia at Ibrox off the radar.

Former Rangers Media supremo Lindsay Herron is the brains behind a plot to get French Eddie suspended for Saturday’s match.

In-between reading the news for Radio Clyde, Herron is the driving force behind a subscription podcast series where Ibrox fans can listen to the tactical insights and paranoia of Mark Hateley and Alex Rae. Fans of Hull City and St Mirren aren’t among the target audience.

With Hateley squealing about the Edouard challenge Herron has taken the quotes to The Sun who are happy to run with the hysterical quotes:

It’s a lunge, it’s an out-of-control tackle, it’s over the top of the ball and there’s contact. Willie Collum is standing about 10 feet away looking straight at it.

It’s a dangerous challenge and it’s a red card offence. So, he should be out of the Old Firm game. And he would be a huge miss for them in what is such an important game. He’s got that X-factor that any team would like to have

You look at Alfredo Morelos’ challenge in the Dundee United game when he used his arm. I said straight away in our post-match reaction on Ten10 podcasts that it was a red card and he should have gone.

He was subsequently offered a two-match ban and the club accepted it. This is what should happen with Edouard. I fully expect the same scenario to unfold but it seems that the SFA’s fast track process isn’t fast enough – although Celtic would probably appeal it anyway.

The Daily Record are also running with the blockbuster story.

In 2011 Hateley revealed that he was offered a bribe during the 1992/93 Champions League campaign, strangely enough he never reported it to the authorities at the time.
