Simon Jordan has called on Dermot Desmond to sort out the fiasco that has developed around Celtic since the turn of the year.

After putting John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan in front of the media Peter Lawwell finally emerged yesterday to provide an interview for Celtic TV.

While he did manage to apologise the bulk of the interview attempted to justify the trip to Dubai which has brought the problems of the season crashing to earth.

From pictures of the manager and captain poolside with drinks through to 13 players and two coaches self-isolating while more SPFL points were dropped at home to Hibs on Monday night.

With close to 40% of the shares in the club Desmond has long been the dominant force at Celtic but he has preferred a hands-off approach with Lawwell in charge of the day-to-day running.

Sometimes however things escalate with Jordan explaining that scenario to TalkSPORT this morning with The Sun listening in to what he had to say:

Dermot is the majority shareholder and he is responsible for what happens at Celtic. Dermot Desmond is the intellectual capital of Celtic, he is the funder. He is the brains behind Celtic.

Your chief executive works for you. My chief executive at Crystal Palace did what I asked him to do. He had an element of freedom to operate within but if I sat there, knowing that my boys were going to Dubai, as the majority shareholder I would be on the phone to my chief executive saying ‘Nah Peter, I don’t think that is a good idea, right’.

If Peter Lawwell then pushed back and said no it is a good idea for these reasons and I accepted that then fair enough that is on Peter Lawwell, the outcome, the results of it. But it is abdicating responsibility, an absentee landlord mentality. We are not responsible for this because football is forever unaccountable.

Strachan is expected to face the media tomorrow to discuss Saturday’s home match against Livingston.

Jordan was the owner of Crystal Palace between 2000 and 2010 when they went into administration.
