‘Absolute omnishambles’ ‘chase them all’ ‘leadership abysmal’ Celtic fans slaughter doubling down statement

There was no sign of sympathy from Celtic fans after the club made a defiant statement defending their trip to Dubai.

News that one player had tested positive and that 13 had been put into self isolation didn’t seem to bring any acknowledgement from the club that they had made an error of judgement.

Going ahead with the trip when the Christmas window was reduced from five days to just one was bad enough, losing the Glasgow derby to fall 19 points behind wasn’t the ideal send off or the picture of the manager and club captain sitting poolside with drinks.

It seems that absolutely no-one inside the club is in touch with rank-and-file supporters, people who will back and defend the club to the hilt but who realised that this trip had no justification.

No name has been put against today’s statement so we can only assume that they reflect the views of CEO Peter Lawwell.

Even the most skilled spin doctor would have their work cut out trying to put a gloss on the first 11 days of January with Lawwell and chairman Ian Bankier yet to directly comment on the Dubai fiasco.
