Bobby Madden’s double standards decided the Glasgow derby today as Celtic fell 19 points behind with the SPFL Premiership virtually over.

In the third minute the Lanarkshire based official watched Alfredo Morelos rake his studs down the ankle of Jeremie Frimpong.

The same Laws of the Game apply throughout the duration of the match but Madden refused to how any sort of card to the Colombian hot-head.

Midway through the second half Madden regained his composure, rushing to red card Nir Bitton for a rugby tackle on Morelos. On balance it could have been a goal scoring opportunity denied but not always.

Had Morelos been given a fourth minute red card he wouldn’t have been racing through on goal to be dragged back by Bitton. If Gerrard’s side had played 86 minutes with 10 men the result could have been different.

An own goal off the shoulder of Callum McGregor gave the home side full points.

In the 75th minute Morelos was booked for raising his boot at Scott Brown, two minutes later he was replaced by Cedric Itten.
