One Celtic fan tipped Dominic McKay to take over as CEO back in November!

Twitter user @sharko67 didn’t get a helpful hint but did carry out a bit of background work when the possibility of a replacement for Peter Lawwell came up on Twitter.

A replacement from inside Scottish football seemed unlikely but spreading the net a little wider to include other sports or someone with CEO experience with an interest in Celtic would have led towards the man who until this morning had a far lower profile.

Around 7am this morning the words Dominic and McKay were suddenly being searched over as Celtic fans looked for some background information into the man charged with shaping the future of their club.

McKay seems to have performed well for Scottish Rugby but that is largely outwith the competitive world of Celtic. Selling tickets, packages and sponsorship at Murrayfield and reinvesting into relatively new professional clubs in Glasgow and Edinburgh is something of a blank canvass.

On July 1 the new man will officially take control at Celtic Park but before then he has significant work to do getting the club and squad into shape for a hectic and significant summer.
