Harry Redknapp doesn’t know whether Frank Lampard would be interested in managing Celtic in the likely event that Neil Lennon loses his job.

The former England internationalist was sacked by Chelsea on Monday morning, by lunchtime he has joined Eddie Howe and Rafa Benitez in the flurry of speculation about the Celtic manager’s position.

Lennon is scheduled to face the media today to preview tomorrow’s match against Hamilton that is unlikely to involve too many questions about Brian Rice’s likely selection.

While results under Lennon have caused alarm among Celtic supporters the feeding frenzy for a new manager was started in-house when the club announced that there would be managerial review in the new year.

Apart from his disastrous Dubai video there hasn’t been any comment from Celtic about the review or any aspect of the playing performance which now stretches to four games without a victory in 2021.

While Celtic remain silent on their managerial review speculation will mount with Redknapp discussing his nephew Lampard with the Daily Record:

That’s certainly something that would interest any manager. It’s a great football club to come and manage, that’s for sure.

Neil Lennon is still there so I wouldn’t want to talk too much about someone else taking his job but obviously it would be interesting to see Frank in direct opposition to Steven Gerrard.

I don’t know whether, if the Celtic job came up, it would be something that would interest Frank. Obviously Neil Lennon is still in charge and I wouldn’t want to see him lose his job

Would Frank want to jump straight back in if it did become available? I wouldn’t know. But you could certainly see the appeal.

Would Frank Lampard be a successful Celtic manager?

Yes, what a boost it would be

No, we need substance, not another project

Lennon was appointed as permanent Celtic manager in May 2019 with a 12-month contract. Erlier in the year he had left Hibs by mutual consent.
