Chris Sutton thinks that Celtic are getting a good deal if the reported transfer of Jeremie Frimpong for £11.5m is completed.

Bayer Leverkusen clearly value the 20-year-old highly and seem to be close to completing the signing of the former Manchester City prospect.

Celtic paid a reported £300,000 for Frimpong in September 2019 and while the sale represents a tidy profit 30% of the fee will go back to the English side.

Frimpong forced his way past Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer straight into the Celtic side despite being the smallest player in the squad, at the age of 18 he had made the big breakthrough.

In common with virtually everyone at the club Frimpong has had his ups and downs this season but with less than 50 senior appearances to his name that is hardly a surprise.

During the summer window Celtic paid the best part of £10m for Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti, with the sale of Frimpong those deals have virtually been paid for but neither player has made anything like the impact anticipated when they signed up.

This season Frimpong has started 26 matches for Celtic.
