Diego Laxalt has turned down a 9m euro three year deal from Saudi side Al-Hilal and is apparently interested in making his Celtic move permanent.

The 27-year-old joined Celtic on loan just before the summer transfer window closed and instantly became the first choice left-back.

Over the last month or so Laxalt has alternated with Greg Taylor at left-back but with little prospect of resuming his career with AC Milan it is likely that he’ll be leaving on a permanent basis this summer.

On his own website, Gianluca Di Marzio reports:

The Arab club has offered the player a three-year contract for almost 3 million euros per season , then waiting to speak with Milan . But the boy refused because he wants to continue playing in Europe.

In fact, his priority remains Celtic , where he is playing continuously and is highly appreciated by the current technical staff. If Lennon is confirmed on the bench, he will certainly ask the club to try to redeem the winger born in 1993 and in that case he would then begin negotiations with Milan, to which Laxalt is linked with a contract until 30 June 2022.

It would be quite a stretch for Celtic to match the terms that Laxalt is currently on as well as a transfer fee but with Lockdown likely to last all season long the summer transfer window is difficult to predict.

Boli Boligoli is due to return to Celtic from his season long loan in Turkey but it is highly unlikely that time will have been a healer with the Belgian expected to be on the move again.
