The morning after the commentary before one Celtic fan was still feeling the pain of Peter Martin’s commentary of the defeat by St Mirren.

It was like a glorious throwback to the days when The Celtic View was known as Pravda for its ability to find a positive spin on the most distressing and depressing of results.

Apparently a 2-0 midweek win over Hamilton Accies had provided the team with a confidence boost but that wasn’t easy to detect as St Mirren set about ending a 31 year wait to win at Celtic Park.

By half-time the visitors were leading 2-1, rather than criticise any aspect of Celtic’s play St Mirren were transformed into a team of superstars. With goal-scorers joining from Grimsby and W Innsbruck (currently bottom of the Austrian League).

Apparently Celtic just had to raise the tempo and intensity during the second half, in stoppage time their best chance fell to Shane Duffy whose header was saved by Jak Alnwick. The last time the Saints keeper played at Celtic Park he was keeping the score down to 5-0 as Brendan Rodgers’ side clinched the 2018 title with a 5-0 Derby Day success.

After the final whistle Callum McGregor spoke to Celtic TV but fans had to make do with analysis from Gerry McCulloch, Stephen McManus and Gary Caldwell with no sign of Neil Lennon.

During the week Martin hosts the PLZ Soccer Show that includes regular guests such as Steven Naismith and Charlie Adam.
