Mark Hughes and his long time assistant Mark Bowen have joined Paul John Dykes for a special edition of A Celtic State of Mind podcast.

The Welshman has been out of management since parting with Southampton in December 2018 but has recently intimated that he is looking to return to football management.

Hughes has had short spells fire-fighting at QPR, Fulham and Southampton but enjoyed relative success over five years with Stoke City and managed Manchester City prior to the arrival of Roberto Mancini.

The English managerial market is increasingly competitive with just a handful of British bosses involved in the EPL.

Across Social Media the vast majority of Celtic fans are calling for the removal of Neil Lennon but the Celtic board are clearly reluctant to take that step.

A managerial review announced on December 7 has still to see the light despite the incredible downturn in results.

With a new CEO coming in the position of the manager becomes a delicate situation but after two years out of football a three month caretaker stint with Celtic might suit Hughes as a route back int into management, at Celtic or elsewhere.
