Celtic’s trip to Dubai is being investigated by the Compliance Officer of the SFA.

The training trip to the sun is likely to go down as one of the most foolish and expensive decisions in the history of Scottish football.

In the midst of a global pandemic with the football authorities pleading for Government help Celtic’s expensive jaunt to the sun has been high on the political agenda.

With the Scottish Government clearly on the case the pressure is on the SFA to ensure that clubs comply with the privileges given to elite athletes under threat.

Celtic issued a statement yesterday defending their Dubai trip but while the club has hammered away on the hard work that they put the players through a couple of pictures suggest that there were other aspects to the trip.

Why Chris Jullien was included while James Forrest remained in Scotland is something of a mystery with Celtic likely to be charged by the SFA to explain the pictures that came back from Dubai.

SFA Chief Executive Ian Maxwell told the Daily Record:

The permission to go was given by the Scottish Government. In terms of any alleged breaches that happened during their trip, you guys will be aware of the disciplinary process we have which is well used. We have a compliance officer who looks at all sorts of alleged breaches from all sorts of clubs over all sorts of alleged incidents.

Everything we are made aware of goes through that process and it would be foolish to say we have not been made aware of issues potentially with Celtic being abroad. That will go through the process and it’s obviously not appropriate to comment on an ongoing issue. We will just see what happens from there

On Thursday the SFA will hear the appeals of Kilmarnock and St Mirren against 0-3 results after they were unable to play fixtures due to breaches of protocol.
